Anyone on here 'tricked' one out...? Photos?
Have done a few, expensive to do well
From a practical point of view I would just say get a ar10 to trick out these days.
Of course, sometimes you just want what you want regardless so don't take that as me knocking the idea-just be realistic about what your trying to achieve
Tell me more. Picked one up and either thinking making it renewed, or suppressing and scoping for a fun gun for around the farm.
Before throwing $ at it make sure it has a good barrel and shoots ok-some are very worn.
With the adjustable has they suppress ok.
A good scope mount like a dsa works but you then can't use the very handy carry handle with most scopes.
Good rails for the front for bipeds etc are hard to get and expensive.
They are not that accurate so large magnification is a waste of time I feel.
Personally I would restore it and it's then a very fun gun that ticks the slr box on your wants list with out trying to turn it into something it's not and potentially being disappointed
Good advice.

FN porn:cool:
(not porn btw, just rifles:))
That site makes my pants shrink
Link don't work.
best one i saw was done by "gundoc", it may have been an FAL not L1A1 but it was stunning
The top 2 pics bang on what I was thinking if not restoring to original. Except with a sleeker fore-end with only the bottom rail.
there is a website from a place in auckland called , red line? red gun? red something .... and he has lots of pics of l1a1 ... and similer
Red Dot rifles
Dealt with these guys before and excellent.
Red dot are fantastic to deal with for what it's worth
Agree, a plainer polymer foreend like an mp5, but maybe with two horizontal flutes to mimic the FAL.
On a side note, my FAL/L1A1 boner has returned for the umpteenth time, so if anyone would like to shift one nows the time to berate me or @Glycerine into potentially buying yours.
@Ryan shaddup hahaha
yep, keen to get an original e-cat myself.
...my baby... :)
Like AR's, once you have one you want another...

Yes picked up one like Grunzter's but with the later metal foreend. Has 4 mags which is a bonus. Should arrive any day...just hoping the barrel is good.
+1 on that, Tony's extremely knowledgable and helpful and his work is very good. The only slight criticism that I have is that the Rhodesian pattern is not what I'd call accurate.

Looks good though if you otherwise wouldn't know...
Whats an "Unfired" L1A1 work?
Its one that was sold from the Air Force during the 1980's,I have stripped it and its as far as I could tell unused.
Phosphated metalwork and wood furniture.

These guys used to do L1A1 Barrels but not for a while. If you want to trick it up you can apparently put a FAL front end on (complete), Tony from Red-dot will be able to tell you. Also the folding stock models have different internals to the standard rifle which has a recoil spring in the stock. That means more new parts? It may become worth it just to get a paratrooper model from DSA.
