Mossberg 395k Bolt Action Shotgun - repairs needed

I've come across this old beat up bolt action 12 gauge Mossberg 395k but it's in pretty rough shape.

The stock has some decent splits that i'm hoping to re-glue and and fix in place with some bowtie joints. The trigger assembly has broken where a pin should hold it in place and i'm not sure what I can do to rectify that - any thoughts?

Mmmm looks like a cast alloy or even plastic? Initial thoughts are to machine a pocket in each side and screw/bond on steel plates and redrill the holes. Looks like something that needs doing properly, potentially if that moves down the gun could fire….. I am a licensed gunsmith so pm me if you want to talk more…. Darren

Louie your Mossberg is a cool old shotgun, I bet it could tell a few stories! I have seen a few bolt action Marlins very similar with the adjustable choke.

These were very basic utilitarian shotguns designed to cull pests and put meat on the table. Looks like yours has done a lot of both and is probably at the end of it's serviceable life. I don't think you should put too much time or money into it. Hate to say it, but for $400-$500 you could get a brand new Turkish made pump with interchangeable choke tubes, or a good secondhand Mossberg, Remington or Winchester pump.

She's back in action. Shoots great and not much on the shoulder too.

@Muddysteve it's detachable and holds 2 shells, bolt action shotguns don't seem to be mentioned in any firearms laws.

Its a weird little quirk of the law. If you have a lever action or bolt action shotgun with a detach mag then I THINK(not 100% as its been a long time since I read it) you can have a 10rd mag as the law mentions tube mag only wrt 5rds for shotgun. Again, I need to check this, do not start making 10rd box mags for your bolt guns, I am not a lawyer.

But it is cool you are allowed detachable mags for bolt gun shotguns still. Gun laws are silly.
