Mounting rails on a shotgun barrel

Just wondering if it'd be safe/usable if I was to drill and tap a barrel on a single shot shotty for a rail? Of course making sure there's nothing like a bit of screw sticking in the barrel.

We tried to suppress a single shot one. Drilled heaps holes in barrel and homemade suppresser. So with holes in the barrel it still shot ok.
Just made it three times louder than previously. Like really really loud... Ha ha rubbish tin material

Drilling down the other end further could be a bit dodgy due to possible barrel splitting under pressure. You give it a weak point .. and away it goes
I have a factory rail for my Berretta that I had to import as Beretta NZ didn't know they existed..
I ll be trying a scope on it this duck shooting season for fun and to pee off the guys ... ha ha
Quick release mounting so take it off in 2 seconds if no good.
Guys in USA use scopes on them quite often now. We ll see how it goes.

I don't know what your trying to do, but I use a small rail say 50mm long which is like on top or a ring. there about $35.00.
I mount a torch on a scope and torch on the magazine tube of a shotgun. it must be close to fitting a single barrel. there about an inch ring size. if no rib it might work.

One thing I have found is the scope needs to hanging way out over the stock towards your face.
Tape the scope to make sure you have enough room plus eye relief first before committing to any thing

I ll post a pic in a minute to show you what I mean I have scope here I bought from EBF that I can fit quickly as a trial

It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
