Yep, hit the nail on the head there. To clarify I don't have a MTN bipod or any vested interest in the company. I have spoken to both companies got along well with both had good service from both and I owned a Backlanz Gen 1 that I wasn't overly stoked with for the money and went back to shooting off the pack.
I did however meet Matt from MTN while hunting on the hill and we often talk about solving problems and products we could make for ourselves from dog beds, tents packs, rifle stocks, etc and Matt's bloody clever. He's also a good bugger that's gone out of his way to help me with my own projects just because he likes to problem solve.
I haven't seen Matt throw any shade and the first instance of any shit between them was a member on here made comments about MTN and Backlanz. Then this last week when Backlanz posted that pathetic post about how other companies were saying their bipod feel off referring to MTN I then instantly checked what Matt had posted an it was pretty innocent with nothing suggesting he was talking about Backlanz at all just saying they wanted a secure mounting system. Talking to him sounds like it was more in relation to the spigot style bipods like the neopods which I believe some members have lost. He was genuinely pretty taken aback that they backlanz took such offense.
Matt definitely hammers down on points he thinks make his product better etc but it's another step to think it's a jab at others as name a company that doesn't say their features are the best in fact I think k you will find backlanz probably have done so. It's not really any different to swaro saying they have top quality glass in their optics and didn't want shifty glass it's a product feature. Anyway I hope some competition forces some more product developments and improvements by some clever kiwis.
