I think the main thing is how you approach the FO about it - softly softly catchy monkey..

It couldn't do any harm to emphasise that it would mean less transport in the car as that helps get the firearms "off the road" which would be where they are potentially at greater risk. And also I would suggest that they are not left at the secondary address when you are at the other one....

Worth suggesting s the worst that can hapen is a flat out NO which is exactly where you are at now....
