Very nice set & calibre. You should have no problem shooting without a brake.
My Model 7 SAUM in STUG cf stock is 6lbs bare rifle - boot is very manageable with out brake or suppressor, running 162 AMAX at 3000fps

Jeez Zeb, thats pretty sweet looking mate :)
That's a fine looking weapon you have had put together. Be interesting to see how she shoots, should be fine I would think.
Very very nice indeed.
You boys are hard buggers, my 22" mod 7 7mmsaum is just shy of 5.5 lbs bare and is 3.1kg scoped. I run 162 Amax just north of 3k and in my opinion recoil is extremely untollirable with an open barrel for me.
Did I mention how nice your rifle is. I hope you end up loving it as much as I love mine.
Mine loves the 160-162 and 175 class pils.
Mint cal, wish someone would start making factory Ammo again.
Mate looks shit hot,
How u finding the action so far?
Was looking at these a few months back
Hi Dreamer, nice shooter fella. I had NZ Hunter build a 7saum with a pierce titanium action a year or two ago. Came up well and shoots top notch. Good calibre eh. Not over the top power wise and brass is on hand so all good. I use 160 tmk's in mine at about 2975fps. 59 grains of reloder 23, Norma case and a cci primer. Good luck with it.
It's got a 26 inch barrel mate so not pushed hard at all. The 160 TMK's seem to kill well too. Reckon you got go another grain or two of powder safely enough I.e. 60-61 of reloder 23 but no need.
That sounds like a very nice build mate and knowing Duley it will be!
Thanks for the load info, I've been thinking about trying the TMK's. Got some bergers loaded up to try at the moment. The 162 eld-x shoot real good at 100m but didn't group to well at 545m when I tried them. Will retry them though.
I had a brief crack with the old amax but I struggled to get a tight group. 3/4 - 1 inch at a hundy at best. The tipped sierras seem to work well with 1/2 inch pretty easy. Mag fit. Shot a handful of deer with the TMK with the longest 550 yards. Pole axed him.
Shot a few hares in the spring at 600 for practice. Killed them too...
Oh yeah got a 2 inch group at 5 hundred verifying drop. First two shots at an inch and the third took it out to two inches. Might have been a fluke but I'll take it!
A very nice looking shooter there my man, top shelf componets and gunsmith, gotta be good:cool:
@Ginga what’s the load density like with RL23 not too compressed?
