I have a Husqvarna 9.3x62. i shoot 286 grain factory ammo, rifle weighs around 7 1/2 pounds. Offhand shooting it when i got it was fine, it was my first heavy calibre rifle after moving up from a .243 and the 3 "try it out" shots at the buyers farm were fine. Then i took it home and lay down in the paddock and Kaboom !! i swear my left shoulder( im a leftie) went back about 12 inches or it certainly felt like it. So sat down on my home made shooting table and kaboom, again my shoulder felt some bastard had hit it with a sledgehammer. I can put 5 rounds down the barrel standing and not care an iota with earmuffs on. So i stuck a dpt suppressor on it, and a medium recoil pad and that made it a hell of a lot nicer to shoot. It wasnt so much the big kick as much as the big kick combined with a huge bang. I will never shoot the damn thing lying down ever again but i can sit and place 5 rounds at a target within 1 minute and whilst its no .243 its not a a pointed sledgehammer into me shoulder either. Standing offhand its much milder as well.
