    My night vision experiance

Ill add to this as I dabble more with it. So I took an intrest in this night vision stuff a little while ago did some research and decided a clip on would be more suited to what I was looking for as far as experimenting with nv went. I dont spend enough time out and about at night time to justify having a dedicated nv rifle just to sit in the safe 90% of its life plus the one I got can easily be mounted on any of my rifles.
I bought a sytong ht66. First experiances with it mounted on a 22lr were quite a learning curve. You have to get used to the techy side of it which Ill admit is a bit hard to grasp for an old fart whos used to hands on manual stuff. You also have to get used to your target being on a screen. Initially I had it on a fixed 4x scope with a non adjustable objective lens and that wasnt ideal, either the cross hairs werent in focus or the target wasnt in focus. Last week I bought a 2-7x32ao scope and mounted it on my 22. After having a quick set up at home this seemed to be better hoping to take it out tonight and try it.

Its good the eyepiece thing is collapsable. Its set up for standing shots. Yea it would be too close for prone but id rarley shoot prone on possums

Since money is an object for us what ill do first is just do a quick sweep with a spotlight to see where they are and get in closer and switch to nv. Guys with a lot of money will use a thermal for initial spotting. I dont like looking through it for long periods of time as even on the screens dimmest setting your eye takes a while to adjust to the night time once you stop looking through it

A cheap AR style cantilevered mount might help with eye relief.

Are the objective clips on systems prohibitively more expensive than to the ones that mount to the eyepiece?

eye relief kind of isn't there as your looking at a screen so you dont get the dark circle if you move your head back and fourth. Wouldn't want it on a high recoiling rifle tho.

Another thing for when I mount the adaptor is I dont use tape as I dont want a sticky mess on my scope if I take the tape off. What I use is cut lengths of about 20mm wide bicycle tube. You can just add more If you need it to be thicker. Ive found 2 pieces has bee enough so far.

A previous post mentioned an ar cantilever, I think I've got that, luckily I have two 22 hornets and the pard stays on one full time. Have used the set up on a 300 wsm and it does come back a bit shooting off the sticks but seeing as the end is good solid rubber I've had no damage.
BLIP, if you send me a PM with your cell no I can post you a pic of my set up.cheers.
