You can also get CMMG and Spikes ARs from Ken now too, if you don't want the angular receivers.

I just purchased a CMMG from Ken.

Put the lower together myself, very pleased with the fit an finish of this rifle.

Ken was very good to deal with too.

Lots of guys have NEA's at the range all function and shoot very well.

    Cheers
    Pete

NEA is one of my 2/3 choices (Well brownells is doing a huge sale right now so I now have 3 choices). If I wasnt going to shoot WSRA so needed a service rifle like M16A2/M4 I'd probably buy the 18inch barrelled one, at $1699 its a hell of a price.

The only thing that raised an eyebrow is it uses the cheaper (I assume) 6061 alloy and not the stronger 7075 alloy which is more "normal". Really though I suspect that makes no difference what so ever, Im never gong to be bayoneting ppl or beating them senseless with it, at least I hope not.

Originally M16 receivers were made from forged 6061, but the forging process made them prone to galvanic corrosion with the front pivot pin, so 7075 was used instead. Milled 6061 (like the NEA) is more corrosion resistant than 7075.

My mates NEA's are very accurate. I have an 18" upper which I want to set up as my longer range .223

Yeah I have been eyeing up the 18" one, especially with the price as you say. Looked at the 3rd generation one but I don't really see how it would make a difference

Would a sliding stock with adj l.o.p be any better suited to two guys with e cat licences sharing the same e cat rifle, rather than a fixed thumb hole stock? Or are the sliders all a bit wobbly?

Ignoring the licensing side of the question, modern sliding AR stocks have less wobble than the old school ones-and some even have none, I have a magpul stock that I can't make move at all that was designed for dmr 308 ar's

Like most things shooting related you get what you pay for, a stock made not to wobble that uses a dedicated buffer tube costs more to make and buy than stuff mass produced to work with every other mass produced component.
