    Necessity is mother of invention.

Made up a .45 calibre inserts dohicky so I can boresight my hefalump gun again. Half inch coach bolt, nearly right size and with careful grinding off the thread it's a nice snug fit.cut head of bolt so boresighter can slide on a yip works a treat...now it's ballpark close will check on paper.oldschool boresighting didn't work as amount I can see through a 45 calibre hole out at thirty yards is rather big lol. Should be ok for bailed pig or possum up tree as long as I keep eyes open not shut in flinch...sook

I assume were talking 45-70, not going to be much possum left for the dogs to fight over!

Did it for my 416. Bloody big bore. Surprising how much difference there is when moving around boresighting.
Tried it without the case and had tonpay attention to how centered you looked down the barrel.
Looking through the primer was heaps better. Lined you up at the action end so only had to worry about the front

I’ve always found(in my case anyway), that “poverty” is the mother of invention!

Given the shite quality these days of the timber used to make handles for axes/shovels/picks/rakes, I would say you are onto something

Meanwhile I'm a qualified fitter/turner who chambered the said 45-70 who could make anything you want. Why are you pissing around with old bolts and a grinder mate?
