300m
Makes you fall right out of bed
Greg Duley has a good article about all of this in the latest NZHunter mag.
Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing, and right-doing, there is a field. I will meet you there.

I just pulled out some numbers comparing a few of the big 7s.
So we have:
7mm PRC has 50 thou longer COAL than 7mm Rem Mag - probably not a big deal. It's the same as the 28 Nosler and the 30-06 / 270.
7mm PRC has Rim = Base diameter. Rem Mag has a 19 thou belt and 28 Nosler is actually rebated 15 thou.
7mm PRC has the shortest powder chamber and 28 Nosler has the biggest.
7mm PRC has a body taper of 14 thou, Rem Mag is 22 and the Nosler is also 22 thou. The PRC could potentially be a little rougher to feed.
7mm PRC has the longest neck at 287 thou, about 1 bullet diameter. 300 Win Mag is said to be a bit short at 264 thou and the 300 PRC is 308 thou, arguably better.

thats stuffed up.....if the case length is nearly quarter of an inch longer SURELY the cartridge overall length MUST be the same if projectile seated to same depth??? if its not..you not comparing apples with apples
75/15/10 black powder matters
I think the PRC is designed around the 180gn bullets whereas the Rem mag was more about 140/ 160's
Some good info but few things they absolutely do not clarifies or correct:
-the first Hornady batches were loaded way too hot, nothing to do with how clean people clean their bore and variability in custom rifle chambering, this bit of writing sounds like a copy and past of Hornady marketing BS...
-then they got 6 firing of one same Hornady case and this seems enough of a test for them to disregard online reports about Hornady 7prc brass issues. It just shows how inconsistent Hornady brass is, some/a few brass I used were fine with 6 firing, others/most were blowing primer at the third reload.
Been said a few times already, even by Hornady themselves on their podacast:
The 7 PRC is NOT :
A competitor to the 7mm STW/28 Nosler/ 7mm Rem Ultra Mag
The 7PRC is:
An 'optimised' 7mm Rem Mag that would be loaded long to the confines of a Rem 700 L/A magazine (all the way out to about 3.6" instead of 3.2" SAAMI) but within the confines of a Tikka T3 magazine (about 3.34"), stuff that you can buy off the shelf vs handloading.
Another essential, is that factory rifles come with the correct twist rate out of the box.
The fact that Hornady has three different lengths of PRC cartridges is interesting.
Winchester tried a similar family of cartridges with their WSM and WSSM lines, which apart from the 300 WSM, went out a while ago.
Arguably the RSAUM was the predecessor to the 6.5 PRC... the fact that ADG is offering the 6.5-7 PRC AW as component brass speaks volumes.
However, all this debate has failed to refocus on the part that matters, which is the BULLET!
The 180 ELDM would do fine for most in anything from a 7mmBR, 7mm08, 7X57, 280 Rem, 280AI etc... so long as your barrel and action can fit it.
You also have to be aware that Hornady is a major sponsor of Nz Hunter.
Those have had anything to with magazine tech/gear reports will be aware that even if something is a turd no one will say it.
Need to be clear this is not a go at the Duleys they do more good for nz hunting than anyone else
