    New Barrel 12.5" NEA

Installed a 12.5" barrel onto my NEA 18" DMR AR15. It was actually much easier that I had anticipated. Rifle is now 5.5" shorter and flash hider sits just inside the factory hard guard. Really happy with the result and wanted to thank Ken from NZAR15 for supplying the barrel, gastube and gasblock.

Will be interesting to see how it shoots at the range. I'm sure there will need to be some tweaking on the optics. Before and after below

I now recommend a suppressor, not that muzzle brake.

It's an A2 flash hider not a muzzle brake.

I have a 12.5 and I can tell you that suppressor is the way to go.

I switched from a Waitaki Can to a Troy Claymore (one of the friendlier brakes) and have since gone back to the can. It's just too loud to be usable.

Yeah been looking at just getting one of the NEA ones from NZAR15. It originally came with the factory NEA muzzle brake and that was pretty ferocious. Couldn't use it at Deer stalkers range etc.

Well worth a look. Means that you have a tiny rifle that shoots like a 14" barrel but without the noise.

    Kills well also. 138 metres.

Just wait till you fire the 12.5" barrel if you think the 18" with brake was loud.
Let me know when you are heading to the range, if I'm there, you can try out my DPT AR can. Although DPT isn't keen on making them anymore.

I think the same reason he dropped other models with steel baffles, wasn't worth his time to make them, as the modular model was the success and main seller.
Pity, as his AR can is good and was a steal at $200 new.

Do you think it will need any changes to the buffer and spring given it was a 18'' dmr model. I have one and have often thought a 16'' barrel would be a better handling gun with the mid length gas system.

I too want to get a shorter barrel , I have a fixed stock , just out of interest what is the overall length of your rifle with the stock at its lowest setting now , as I also want a similer stock
