I assume this is the Barrett version of the Forbes 20B and 24B, as Barrett have apparently taken over the manufacturing rights for these rifles from Forbes.

Forbes is no longer in business as I understand it [URL="https://www.facebook.com/Forbes-Rifle-LLC-194186300722761/"], as Titan Machine (which made the the rifles for Forbes) has gone to the wall.

They've obviously made a few changes: the receiver looks a little different and is now stainless (only the barrel was on the Forbes), but the full-length bedding and other Melvin Forbes-inspired features have been retained.

I think Aoraki Ammunition are the new agents for Barrett. Does make you wonder about the morality of the Forbes distributors (NZ Ammunition Co) and local retailers still marketing a $3000+ rifle when the company that makes them has gone belly up.

My son has a Forbes 20B in .308; there's a lot to like about it and it's a tack-driver...but I'd be hesitant taking the plunge now knowing you'll be whistling in the wind for parts or after-sales service.

However I fear the new Barrett Fieldcraft will be no less expensive...

Let's be honest, even parts for a tikka are insane, if you can find them...

Interesting heads up on Titan, looks like my Forbes is now a collectors item that no one will want to collect....
