New Capacity Rules - Benelli M2

Many of you will be using Benelli M2's this duck season. I have had a 4 shot extension on my tube (7+1) but have now removed it so it goes back to 3 +1

Fish and Game just emailed through a Q&A sheet that they have engaged the police on that states the tube can be MAX 5 shots and specifically addresses the 2 shot extension

Does anyone know where we can find a 2 shot mag extension for the M2 in time for duck shooting? I've always found the 3+1 set up a bit of a hassle and would almost prefer to go O/U

Funny enough I just been to see my AO about the legality of importing a two round extension for use in 3gun. She didnt know but said would call me back after contacting the Firearms Hub.

Ten minutes later I get a call along the lines of...Sorry bad news. Your Benelli is now classified as a prohibited weapon as it is capable of accepting a magazine extension that would allow more than 5 rounds to be held in the magazine.

WTF something must have got lost in translation somewhere. It would only hold three plus the two round extension! Sorry it is still capaple of fitting a larger magazine extension so is a probited weapon.

Personally, if you need more than 3+1, I reckon you’re putting steel in the air and hoping. Down here we’ve got a very generous bag limit, but half the time there’s only a couple in the mag. It’s really only the first 3 that are certainty’s, then they’re getting out there in distance, risking just wounding the bird. We only get enough for a feed then a couple for the freezer. Limit ya kill, don’t kill the limit.
    But for geese..........

Hope that’s not right as it would make most semis in the country illegal then. And unable to be properly cleaned......

I think they're still getting confused by the Order In Council (Now replaced by the new amendment).

The OIC used the 'capable of accepting' wording, but the new amendment doesn't.

Otherwise 10/22s etc would be gone.

My understanding would be that your 4-shot extension tube is now a prohibited magazine. (Save it for the buy-back or see option below)

But getting and fitting a 2-shot extension or permanently limiting your 4-shot, simply creates a legal gun.

not hard to PERMINATELY change the extension to be only 2 shot capable......cople of holes bored through it and weld/braize a plug in place...leave holes for sake of visability.... was thinking of guys with a winchester defender etc.... the existing barrel band will still be in place but mag capacity forever altered without changing function...... personally I would forgo the extension altogether.

Modify your 4-shot mag extension to be a 2-shot mag extension, and Bob's your father's brother.

I was actually wondering the same thing about my m2.

It's one of 2 shottys I've always wanted.

The next is a Beretta 686 silver pigeon.

However that can wait and I'll enjoy my m2 :-)

    Out of curiosity.

What barrel would guys run for Buckshot?

I’m sure at some point local gun shops will get in 2 shot extensions for them?

Surely, it’s a popular gun and I know a few people with the old extensions
