No Im saying what is good enough to get high scores and win. I can happily spend $1600~2000NZ on a Sightron and like one of my club members find these good enough to get on the Kiwi team representing NZ, V spending $3.5k+. As an example I am shooting the next model down from the guy above with a club rifle with a second hand barrel and I am still competitive, ie we trade places on the range.
If I was a rich dude and money no problem I might indeed spend $3.5k it might get me an odd point or an X, maybe.
Now if I was trying to shoot 1500+yds at max magnification with a 338lapua or to 2000yds with a Barrett huge twat of a gun, to kill a poor starving 3rd worlder with 40 year old AK47, who cant even see me, yes OK.
Second point, I think a lot of it is the macho defense of "Ive spend an arm and a leg on expensive" (whatever) so have to justify it no matter the logic/value. If you need it, fair enough, if you dont then spend the difference on ammo and having fun.
Maybe its just me but Ive got to the age that buying 'brands" so I can look and feel cool without good cause just doesnt do it for me.
