New (to me) addition to the gun safe

    Hi guys & gals,
Couldn't not post tonight that I've managed to fill one of those empty slots in my gun safe tonight.
I managed to pick up a primo condition Remington 700 BDL in .223 mmmmmm with a nice scope thrown in on top.

Now normally I wouldn't crow but it's circa oct 1995 (off the proof marks on the barrel) in primo condition (there's no wear in anything and I've had 3 or 4 guys absolutely give the the works in terms of reviewing it!) The trigger has had major work done- it breaks like glass, no creep at all.

And what's more it shoots Hornady v- max 55 trainers like a laser beam, got to test test it this arvo and was grouping less than 1/2 MOA.

All I can say is Yay! And thanks to you guys out there who are completely anal about looking after your rifles - it means finds like this out there are possible.

Oh and did I mention a left hander in now what is a Remington deleted line!
A bit late foe photo's tonight so I'll attach a few tomorrow for you all...

    Cheers CD.

It sounds as though you are doing flik flaks down the hallway CD
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.

Thanks Rushy - you pretty much hit the nail on the head there!

I have been busy this weekend working around the Life sentence block but I did manage to get time to take a photo of the first outing at the NZDA range for a verification of 100m range performance. I'll load the first target of 5 rounds I shot up there.

Thanks also to the other left hookers up there who also helped me break the girl in with a couple of other 5 shot strings. (Richard and Mark)
Can't wait to get started on some load development and was a little surprised the Hornady v-max 55's were a little less tight to group that the Factory 55SP's.

Be interested to know any trial brews or projectiles I should take a look at for reloading especially for 1:12 twist Remington 700's out there. Was headed towards the v-max route but also conscious of using this for neck shooting smaller fallow and goats.

I'll post a shot of it hopefully tomorrow was a little late to take a shot to show the girl off to her best...

    CD.

Ok here's the shot as you'll see Primo condition, bolt and trigger like butter very, very little wear on the bolt-face and the chamber and rifling is mirror like, just like the opening credits of a James Bond movie.
Managed to get a shot of it outside between the "sun-showers" that us Westies love so much this time of year!

I'm thinking I might take the sling off and swap to a leather one to make it a bit more authentic. Thoughts? cant bring myself to chop or thread it as the crown is just superb..
    Any who...

Some guns don't suit a suppressor and that's one of them!

Thanks Jakewire I was very pleased to find it, and have become a bit of a devotee of wood recently. With my last two purchases being both of the wood persuasion... To think I almost spent twice as much on a t3 varmint in 223 and this came with the glass... Very very happy.
