Don't really see the point, other than Remington being desperate ?!?

I've always liked the 700, great base for project builds, tons of after market goodies... oh, and a nice source for LH actions

But is there really such a big gap between a 770 and a 700SPS that is justifies ANOTHER rifle in their line-up ? Unless they plan on dropping the (p.o.s.) 770 and replacing it with something slightly better ?

seems to be the feeling from what i have read, people dont see the need for another 'inbetween' option.

The article I found on it seems to come across that it is a good rifle but the words 'ugly' and 'pointless' have been thrown about

When I first saw it I thought Remington making more shit in a attempt to make some money. It kinda has a Ruger American look to me.

    Try Walmart
Real guns start with the number 3 or bigger and make two holes, one in and one out

I've got to say quite frankly , What's the point.
Lets just talk about here in NZ. You can buy a new 700 for around 900$ and turn it into whatever you want over time if your that way inclined.
You can currently buy a new Blued Weatherby for 600$, a Howa for 800$, a Tikka[ stainless] for 1150$.A Ruger for 1200$.
Even an Abolt if you look about for 13-1400$
Why on earth would anybody then pay 700$ odd of this countries money for a Mossberg, Remington [whatever the number after it], Savage Axis etc, etc.
I really can't understand the reasoning, fair, If you lived in the states, and these things come in at 3-400 or less as they do,then fine, but here as a rule, here, they don't.
If a young fellow has got 700 in his pocket for any of these others, then , so long as he's of good character, and if he's young and just got his firearms licence he should be or else the sysytem is failing, then , there is not a gunshop in the country that won't sub him into a better rifle.

I'm not saying that these rifles haven't got there place, truckgun springs to mind.
However for fucks sake think about it before you spend on that sort of rifle for a genuine hunter, as what it will cost you 6months later when you realise what you've got is the piss poor trade in price on the rifle you should have got in the first place.

Sorry if that sounds harsh or seems that I have no concern about how hard it is for a young fellow to get into something, I do know, I was there as well.I just get annoyed with the crap that shops are selling our young folk and have heard so many stories about this one or that one that won't shoot worth a damn or breaks or some bloody thing..
