    New savage and new leupold

I see that Savage is going to release a new straight pull rifle.

    https://www.savagearms.com/impulse

And rumour goes that leupold is going to release a new leupold MK3HD. Probably a 4x12x40 with a vx5 style turret.

I guess that with the shot show cancelled, manufacturers do not have quite the same pressure for releasing all their new products for that event.
Plus with the results of the us presidential and senatorial elections , the us gun industry might take a sever hit on the long term.

Interesting concept that you can turn it from a right hander to a wrong hander.

read about the it other day. Still noty cheap but cheaper than some of the alternatives.
If its in a system like the savage and you can change the barrels its a bit like a down market Blaser
    Sort of

And that you can interchange the barrels in the same cartridge head family and that there is a 20moa picatinny rail milled in the same block as the receiver.
The concept of the ball bearing as a locking mechanism is not new as Heym had that at least 20 years ago.

Hope the rumour is true, would be awesome and I'll buy it.

Trouble is it seems to clash with their other models, they only just added ZL turrets to the VX3i in 2020 (which have yet to make it to Europe) so a 'better' model with ZL2 turrets would seemingly make that obsolete.

However the 'mountain rifle' scope concept is dead on. A 3.5-10X42 with a good 2nd focal plane reticle, side focus down to short distances and locking elevation capped windage would be sweet, especially if they make a 1-inch tube version.

And interchangeable bolt heads so not limited.

Let's just hope they don't make to big a thing of the 'speed'.
Haven't they tried banning straight pull actions in aussie?
Great concept though and if everything interchangeable then would only need the one rifle .....

Actually I take that back about only needing the one rifle... what the hell am I saying...??!!
Not had my coffee yet and not thinking straight....

A scaled down 223 would be good. Nice on goats.

If the Mk3HD is a 34mm tube like the Mark5/6 then I'm not keen anymore.

Thats pretty standard for LVPOs, even some 34mm tube scopes have 20mm obj lenses.
