Which Vortex model is that @Carpe Diem ???

I'm interested in seeing how it compares with the VX6, especially considering its almost a third of the price!

That review is pretty good. Only real draw back is the weight but hey, a few ounces here and there is not going to hurt a long range rig.

Yeah no need to worry mate, just replaces an older vortex as was all I could afford at the time which was a little much for the last three trips I've had in the the CNI I took it on which were animals coming out onto tracks about 20 m away hence the 6 was a bit much just could see brown fuzz. Lol!

It's still one of my favourites as it tracks so well so it's going on the volquartsen until the Omark is ready for it.

probably this one though, proper clicks you see.
    Sightron Riflescopes S-TAC Series S-TAC2.5-17.5X56IRMH
Haven't yet read enough consumer reviews to be sure they work as advertised, though Sightron do have a reasonable nme
probably by the time i find out if they're good everyone will have as well and the price will have been jacked up.
I have one, bought it from DED, $1499
Sits on my AR15 for long range hare shooting.
I rate it. Clicks are nice, returns to zero, love the reticle and the tiny illuminated dot.
If you can get one for a good price, do it.
If you're around Palmerston North over Christmas you're welcome to check it out (I live in Auckland but guns locked away in Palmy)

I sighted the Sightron in today on my M7 300saum.

Great 'scope. Good eye relief and a better sight picture on 15x than my HD5.
Everything worked smoothly. Bright optics. I rate it ahead of the HD5.
Apart from the 23oz weight which is on the high side for me, there is nothing not to like.

Sighted it in and then straight onto the 500 yard gong. Hit a couple inches low. Adjusted up one click and job done.

This pic is 6 clicks of elevation up from the bottom 2 shots (100 yards). Sweet. And at last I have got that bitch of a Mod7 shooting.

Bit of weight probably just indicates it's well built.

How is it at last light compared to the Hd5 is the reticle etched? does the reticle hang in there as the light fades?

Don't know yet. But the HD5 reticle (duplex) does not cross crisply.
No, dont think an etched reticle. Look up the specs

To give you an idea, my stac (mentioned earlier in the thread) is amazing in low light - sure, its got a stupidly big objective lens, but thats why I bought it.
Evening hare shooting. At distance. Then closer distances under the spotlight.

    Its good.
