    Nightforce 2.5-10x42

I’m thinking about putting one of these on a new rifle, something that will get used hard and a lot. I like everything about it on paper, but the spec sheet says the eye relief is only 3.3” - which seems very short.

For those of you that have or have had one, what’s the eye relief and eye box actually like? You hear plenty of positive feedback about them, so I guess it can’t be too bad…. Just a lot of cash to cough up, so want to make sure it’s all good.

Nice rig @7mmsaum I take it you have no problems or comments on the eye relief/eye box?

I think the 2.5-10 is about perfect for a hunting scope, whether it be the tops or the bush. 85mm is about normal for most scopes isnt it?. I measured one i was fitting at the weekend and it was slightly less than that. And on the lower powers you will probably find the eyebox is pretty forgiving.

    I have the nx8 2.5-20 f2
I looked through the 2-10 a few weeks back and wasn't overly impressed by the glass. Maybe I'm just spoiled by the nx8.
But I hear what you are saying, it is a good all rounder

Yeah I thought about the NX8, but it was starting to get a bit big and heavy. I really want something that is relatively compact and bullet proof. Sure the glass might not be as top tier as the 8, but there’s always a compromise to be made

The nx8 1-8 is actually a couple of ounces lighter than the 2.5 x10 and smaller.
    Probably similar price to.
I have mucked around with them and really rate them.
Still enough magnification to shoot 700m and dileable

Andy is the nx8 1-8 usable in the lower mag. I.e can you see the reticle?
I was thinking this would be a good option myself

March is doing a 1.5x15x 42 30mm tube, sfp. With a pretty good hunting reticle and external turrets.Probably one the lightest scope in its category on the market. It gives NF a run for its money;-)

They have also released a similar scope but ffp and 34 mm tube, so a bit more heavy than the 30mm.

That FD-2 reticle looks good, pretty much a Firedot TMR which Leupold doesn't seem to do anymore.
The reticles in the FFP and dual focal plane model are less exciting but the scope itself seems pretty neat, expensive though.
