I learnt that habbit but it still really pissed me off

The parallax issue you mentioned is common in scopes with big magnification ranges. It's hard/impossible to design a scope that does everything well.

Basically any scope with and 8x or 10x magnification range is going to suffer from a poor depth of field or have an unforgiving parallax.
