Another dumb question but will you lose much noise reduction running a 30 cal suppressor on a 7mm08 ? Cheers

try it let me know if you can tell the difference.....I'm picking you won't

A-Tec make pretty nice suppressors and they don't think so because they don't do a separate 7mm one - it's the same size for both 7mm and 30 cal.
The magnum DPT on a 243 makes it very quiet.
Don't expect actual numbers, eg in dB. "Slightly less but still highly useful" is the likely answer.
@buzzman i run 30cal on my 284 and it seems ok. I cant tell any difference anyway
Your OCD will kick in and you will have a 7mm one for it before you notice anyway
evening fellas, in a side question for you all.... out of curiosity have you always had suppressors available in NZ, or did you have to campaign for them? They seem pretty commonly used by the guys on this forum so I'm assuming they're effective at reducing the volume from deafening to loudish, and worth the investment.
Here in Oz, it is (on paper) possible to be licened for a suppressor but is actually near impossible (a limited number of pest cullers might have access to them).
At the moment someone is having a tilt in a state parliament here to amend firearms laws to allow all licenced shooters access to supressors, as a hearing protection measure. Of course, as Oz is entirely populated by the spawn of convicts, we can't be trusted and it won't fly.
Our Police and pollies have seen too many Hollywood movies and imagine a 'silencer' (they won't call them suppressors or moderators) will instantly mean any firearm will be silent, like a mouse farting through cotton wool.
That is the trick, let your police ban silencers but fight for your right for suppressors ( which are of course much louder than those Hollywood silencers;-) .

Yeah no regs here for suppressors when I started hunting we didn’t have them , had a mate move to oz and got a few sent over as mufflers but I’d say you wouldn’t want to get caught with one there, the world gone crazy want be long and we want be aloud guns here in nz

Im not sure why a smart lawyer hasnt yet taken a class action suit against the no suppressor ruling.... its a health and safety thing..it is very easy to reduce harm to hearing by using these.... therefore they should be used.... someone who shoots for a living would have a strong case for long term hearing loss....
