Amazing , is there a lot of them over there and that affects the price or just people have lost interest ?

Pretty sure that's where Graeme Champion gets his from.

I think in some of those countries your only allowed a few rifles. Bit hard for collectors.

Its more of a case of the old guns not being popular. The Pre war Mauser are not particularly common in Norway compared to Sweden although there are a few about.

Mannlicher just seem to have fallen out of favour. If people have alot of money they tend to go for a Blaser with high grade wood.Newer Mannlicher even the delux models just sit for sale for sometimes years.If the Rifle is chambered in something not available " off the shelf" then its practically worthless unless some enthusiast buys it or it gets broken down for parts.

Its true that we are only allowed in Norway 8 hunting guns, that is undoubtably a factor in it.

I have posted this before but it kind of fits into this thread:

Pre war small ring Mauser, originally a Military Carbine made by Erfurt. Converted into a Sporter by Wolf in Austria in the 1930s.

Then rebarreled probably in Norway with a Kongsberg barrel and Reknagle swing off mounts and open sights with night beed fitted as well as a model 70 safety added.

Plenty of engraving, mint bore, came with a Swaro vari power with 30mm tube.

Paid less for the whole lot than what a bare Tikka T3 sets you back over here.

Its my main hunting Rifle, i look after it but it still comes on week long backpack hunts. I just oil it every night

Those swing off mounts are worth a bomb!

I use the swing off mounts more than I thought I would.If I am travelling some distance I remove the scope,or walking in for a long way the scope rides wrapped in some clothing in the top of my pack.I feel Rifles carry much better "bare".The open sights are surprisingly good,almost like a Ghost ring with the foresight floating.
