The 280 ross would've been a neat thing back in the day
Reading some old accounts, they often had trouble with accuracy, which turned out to be factory ammo issue - for example Canadian Dominion ammo they used to load with the wrong size bullet, resulting in six inch groups at 100y. (From memory .280 Ross is actually .286 sized) But the rifles themselves very accurate if goiven the proper ammo. Lots of compeition shooting won by Ross rifles.
If you had money in NZ prior to WW1 you would get a Ross rifle for deer stalking. They went out of business during the first war.
