To liven this thread back up , here are 4 different bolts short ,intermediate and 2 x standard length , one with standard handle and one with flat , the only one missing is a magnum which I do not have , nice reference photo that some may find interesting.

A tidy Mannlicher in a modern caliber would be around $1000 to $1500 in Scandinavia, an old one in an uncommon caliber about half that. Unless its very special ( engraved, in its case etc) then it might be back up to $1500 ish.Mannlicher just seem to jave gone out of fashion.
Pre war Mauser Sporter in a common Caliber would be $200 to maybe $800 unless its a African caliber someone might really want. Its a crying shame that few appreciate the history and quality of these old Rifles.
Will be selling my Oberndorf Kurz in .250 Savage shortly when I can get some photos done.
NWest, located in NZ?
Pretty sure that's where Graeme Champion gets his from.
I think in some of those countries your only allowed a few rifles. Bit hard for collectors.
Yeah that makes sense
Its more of a case of the old guns not being popular. The Pre war Mauser are not particularly common in Norway compared to Sweden although there are a few about.
Mannlicher just seem to have fallen out of favour. If people have alot of money they tend to go for a Blaser with high grade wood.Newer Mannlicher even the delux models just sit for sale for sometimes years. If the Rifle is chambered in something not available " off the shelf" then its practically worthless unless some enthusiast buys it or it gets broken down for parts.
Its true that we are only allowed in Norway 8 hunting guns, that is undoubtably a factor in it.
If the
I have posted this before but it kind of fits into this thread:
Pre war small ring Mauser, originally a Military Carbine made by Erfurt. Converted into a Sporter by Wolf in Austria in the 1930s.
Then rebarreled probably in Norway with a Kongsberg barrel and Reknagle swing off mounts and open sights with night beed fitted as well as a model 70 safety added.
Plenty of engraving, mint bore, came with a Swaro vari power with 30mm tube.
Paid less for the whole lot than what a bare Tikka T3 sets you back over here.
Its my main hunting Rifle, i look after it but it still comes on week long backpack hunts. I just oil it every night
A true work of art.
really nice @norsk , especially being a small ring as well , bottom metal and trigger guard look very much like a Brno 21 with the Mauser lever latch added , thanks for the pics
Those swing off mounts are worth a bomb!
Wanted them on my rifle but the price was eye watering!:oh noes:
I use the swing off mounts more than I thought I would. If I am travelling some distance I remove the scope,or walking in for a long way the scope rides wrapped in some clothing in the top of my pack.I feel Rifles carry much better "bare".The open sights are surprisingly good, almost like a Ghost ring with the foresight floating.
@norsk geez thats a nice one. Greener safety and all.
Would love one like that. Much jealous.
This threads a bit old , but here's another oldy but a goody to get the juices flowing for those us us that like them , 3006 made in 1923 with factory fitted scope

Top to bottom:
1924 ish Model C "intermediate" action, rebarrelled a long time ago to 303, currently looking for a bolt for it
1920s Model B Kurz , completely rebuilt from a "no bolt" wreck by Dave Ward and rebarrelled in 6.5x47
1919 Model B Kurz, totally original in 8x51
If anybody knows of an "intermediate"bolt or a sporterized rifle (1903 Turk, 1935 Argentinian, 1909 Peruvian) with one I'd love to hear about it, the Model C rebuilt with a new 7x57 barrel in the proper profile would be very special and uncommon.
Nah it’s just the angle that photo has been taken , that Kurz rifles are surprisingly small and light , here’s one’s next to a 9.3 x 62 , it makes the K look small
Attachment 228799
Yep I think it's my phone pic,the k is about the same size as the engraved 66 in 3006,both feel very solid!,it's also more trimmer then my 7x57 brno 21.
Thats 5 kurz mausers in one thread. Wonder how many are in NZ.
I know of at least one other, a Model B 250-3000, as new* with factory fitted scope - last seen about 10 years ago. Several people have tried to buy it over the years, no sucess.
* the owners son decided the stock was too glossy so sanded it down including the checkering, and rubbed it with virgin (not boiled) linseed, thereby converting what was probably a US$5K rifle to a fraction of that. Oh well SIGH
How many Kurz in NZ ? ….I have personally seen 9 , a few of those have gone to Aussie or SA now though , 2 of those were Type A ‘s , one of them was stunning with a scope and probably the nicest one I have seen , @Tentman I have not heard or seen the mint one you mentioned , bloody shame but it could be re-checkered and finished I guess and still be a bloody nice rifle .
Type B single square bridge. Bit of a beater. 30-06 Dinny Collings barrel on it that has a nice bore. Parker hale bases and trigger, with side safety. Classic no-kick recoil pad that was a bit broken so I epoxied it up. Bolt handle rounded off a bit for a scope. Action has been drilled multiple times for other scope mounts -poor thing. Barrel and 30's era bottom metal was well worth the $250 asking price. I added the edelweiss.

Stunning rifles , those aperture sights that fit to the bolt release lever are super hard to find , I have never been able to find one .
Or you go English classis and fit a Rigby striker mounted peep.
