I've had a great run with DPT but am thinking something more exotic. The ODL ticks a lot of boxes for me especially being light. The length is fine. I was curious of first hand experience with the ratchet lock and if it's worth it on a hunting rifle. Also there looks to be an insertless option. The online info isn't great. Do I need an insert? How does the insert work? And really just why?

Because the thread is printed during the process, the adapters were offered so there were more options without having to print runs of suppressors with threads to suit every Tom dick and Harry’s desire. I wouldn’t go for a ratchet lock or any other additional contraption for a dedicated hunting rifle. Not sure the weight saving is worth it, pretty minimal really.
