I was perusing the new Humping & Fisting catalogue and see there is yet another Tikka iteration, a bush pig. This one is going to be a good seller I think and long overdue for the NZ market.

well it saves the usual get it and chop it before even shooting it..... pity the orange panels arent on it...hopefully it will come with some decent bush orientated optic choices.....1-5 2---8 or the red dot of some sort.....
and feed it proper bush ammo...180grn soft point winchester for a start....
75/15/10 black powder matters
and a decent twist rate for those who want the option / to use proper Subsonic projectiles without needing a special barrel
Think Beretta have imported 300 of them.
Just because you call it a bush pig doesn't mean you can't shot it in the "open" MD. The 2.5-10 sounds like a good option.
Experience. What you get just after you needed it.
Iv got the same except 18in barrel, good for 400yds on deer.
oh but its a tikka.....dont you know...... if it came in 7mm/08 it would be a latte
so does this one need a short black???

Its not what you get but what you give that makes a life !!
Well if they did a 1-8 twist 26" barrel 264 win mag I'd start saving shekels.
JMHO
just because others are called long range mountain rifle..doesnt mean you cant carry in bush and shoot deer at 10 yards either......but its friggin sight harder with scope that only goes down to 5x and is like looking through a drain pipe.....
but you see my point.... and agree a 2.5-10 would be lovely.... if wasnt huge n heavy...too spendy for me anyway.Dustys $600 Bakail far more like my cuppa tea.

Sorry to derail my own thread, but on the scope front, there is the VX5 2-10x42 which would make a good all rounder if you have a spare $2K. Any other contenders?
1-5 loopy 2-8 loopy OLD 2-7 loopy all fantastic scopes in the bush. or a bog std 3x9x40

I was in a retailer just yesterday looking at the burris line up, for a light bush scope thdy seem awfully big especially at the ocular end and at the heavier end o the scale, actually have to agree with milk duds on this one or if the budget allowed a nice light seagull in 2.4-12×40 would be hard to beat

My little burris is a 2.5x10x42 was $400 new.Bugger paying top dollers.
