2-10 vx5 firedot works great on mine. Just enough maginification without being silly.

The only issue I see with the Tikka (mine included) or even other manufacturers is they stick stocks with low "opensight" combs on rifles that have none and never will and you end up "rangi'ing up" a comb raiser, bolting one of those hidious after market ones on or buying a new stock................................

I have several low mag scopes, and find I am usually setting them on 2-2.5 in the bush.

To me a serious Bush rig needs, and I have one is an aim point.
Lighter than any scope and way smaller.
Zero at 100 or 200 and enjoy both eyes open shooting.
Once you get used to it they are unreal.
I usually run it on a tikka super light cut down 260 but it has the thermal on it at the moment.
If you feel the need put a magnifier with it.

not inc scope no . currently wearing vx5hd 3-15 . But could of fit a cheaper scope and still kept it around 3k . But that 2600 ish inc top rail and titanium bolt handle as well , and of course the lefties are several hundred dollars more expensive to begin with than a righty .

but you see my point.... and agree a 2.5-10 would be lovely.... if wasnt huge n heavy...too spendy for me anyway.Dustys $600 Bakail far more like my cuppa tea.
And I hope you see my point. Just because it has a 16" barrel doesn't mean you have to limit yourself to a low 1-5x scope.

One thing I would add. The Firedot is a must.

Ruger Ranch are pretty nasty rifles though. I'm sure they do the job, but you get what you pay for. Just to be clear, I'm not saying go buy a Tikka Bush. I've just sold a Tikka and don't think I want another one.

I think H&F packages are generally off the mark, certainly in the optics department, but the gun itself will have a lot of interest.

There was an interesting thread a while a go about the perfect do it all rifle, can't find it now, but sort of came to the conclusion that one rifle can't do it all, but it can do a lot. My choice would be a "bushpig" of some description with a 2-10x scope or similar. It would cover close range bush work and out to 300m (maybe further) in the right hands.
