In the right chambering, definitely further.

I am completely confident with my 16" 308 to 500 yards, proven itself time and again

Ruger have been doing a threaded 18" 308 Predator for years, lightweight and they are as accurate as any Tikka, owning several rifles in each brand. Plastic stocks, just a bit shitter than the shit tikka plastic stock.

Firedot or Trijicon 1-4 illuminated post would be my preferred optic.

The RRP on the rifle is $1899, comparable with Tikka models.

I would have thought it's the Ducks Guts for NZ as I hear a lot have a Bushpig rifle.
There always modification s to be had bit this is an off the shelf Bushpig, you asked, they listened.
It's easy for Tikka to trim the barrel etc but changing the twist changes the tooling for them.

Some will like it some won't but it's another offering.

One thing I would add. The Firedot is a must.
Here's mine with the mrs 7.62 howa mini which I have also cut back to 16" since this pic and I added a second s/s baffle to the 308 supp .

Mine is the firedot scope but rarely turn it on , only in very low light or looking into dark shaded areas . Don't think I would really miss it if didn't have it 95 percent of the time.

That is true, Tikka are a much nicer made, better materials and workmanship, hold their value, but for literally getting the job done no difference, I like both.

I have my Firedot turned on all the time but only at a low setting. You can't see it in bright sunlight but if you look into a dark piece of bush it's visible. I have had a number of occasions where I would have struggled to get a bead on a black pig if I didn't have it. Eyes getting older probably doesn't help either.

Dumb questions about firedots. Presumably they need a battery, how long does the battery last? Can you still use the scope with a dead battery?

With a dead battery you just have a "normal" scope so no problem. It runs on a CR2032 and the Firedot can be set to about 6 different intensity levels (or brightnesses) and it is turned on as soon as the scope is moved. If you are in a vehicle or carrying it the Firedot will be on. You can turn it off though.
I have had mine about 3 years and it has been carried around a fair bit and I have not yet changed the battery. The good thing is, if the battery does go flat you still have a perfectly good scope to use.

Dean Maisey does the Kaimai rifle and that is a really nice interpretation of the bushpig. Probably more $$$ than the Tikka package though...

Isn't the 3030 pretty much the perfect bush rifle?

The x39 is often compared to the 3030 so yes
