    Older schmidt and bender scope

Awhile back I treated myself to a new rifle and it came with a older S&B scope, I'm not having alot of luck tracing down any info on it. It's 2.5-10 by 50 or 56? Internal diameter of objective is 56mm. Looks to be 30mm tube. Apart from the west Germany stamp on the back it only has 45085 stamped on the bottom.
Anyone here have an idea on what model and age it is and what it's worth

It's in near immaculate condition with 2 very small marks, glass looks perfect

It looks like the Klassik model which came with a 10 yr warranty (usually S&B comes with a poor 2 yr warranty).
Probably not as old as you think. Just email the serial number (45085) to S&B and they will tell you the year of manufacture.
Worth about $1200-$1400 s/h is my guess.

I would guess late 80's, early 90's manufacture of your 2.5-10x56, but as previously suggested, email S&B.

The "Klassic" range looks to be the modern equivalent.

And sitting a long way back. Has it got a very long stock or was the previous. Owner short.

Nice scope bit big for a 2.5-10, but would be nice hunting into deep shade or end or day situations

Germany reunited in 1990 so I guess your scope was manufactured in the 1980's

It's worth? It's worth keeping if you have a purpose for it.

I would guess @Hermitage is around the mark for value.

It would make a nice spotlighting scope or you would appreciate the clarity in light if you were using it that way.

I've shot pigs at end of day that I might not have with a different (less bright) scope.
Pending what it owes you you may do ok if you sold it.

Apparently, S&B (as well as some other former West German companies) continued to mark their products "Made in West Germany" for a couple of years after reunification.

Cheers for the replies, have sent S&B a email so hopefully hear back from them soon. From my understanding the rifle was built in the mid to late 80s so I'm assuming the scope has been on there from new. The mounting is rather questionable

First I've heard of that, but makes sense, given the quality of some East German stuff, any pride in your engineering and you'd want to distance yourself from any doubt that your stuff was made in an ex-commie factory.
If you stuck it on the yellow site I'd be surprised if you didn't get at least $1000 for it,........ So shall I start the bidding at a crate of speights?

You could use lower mounts of course. Being a S&B Klassik it must have the reticle in the 1st focal plane.

I've got the Zeiss equivalent on my .22 - fantastic in the evenings for picking rabbits out of the background. Also marked West Germany..... didn't like the neighbours much, it seems.
