If it has an original barrel it was set up to shoot the 144gr projectile in vogue at the time. More than OK to stabalise 155gr.
If it is a 44B it will have the larger diameter pin locking the bolt head. The smaller pins in the first 44 are a safety issue - a reported history of them breaking and potential for the bolt head not being retained. The pins can be fractured by dry firing.
This doesn't help with a date but gives I think a sequence of manufacture

I have one with DL in the serial number. The old fullbore shooters probably knew the significane of the nubers off the top of their heads![]()
