    Online Leupold no go

I've had two different American online shops tell me they can't export Leupold scopes or even rings due to a contract with the manufacturer. I previously got that for Swarovski but this week it seems to be more brands. Has anyone else had the same or is it just me ?

I was trying a while ago with some various scopes and they all said to contact your local supplier instead. Even the el-cheapo hawkes etc. Same with Leupold.

It's basically a warranty issue. They don't want to deal with an overseas customer if something goes wrong. There are a couple of ways around it - the simplest is to sign up with one of the many US reshipping services. As an added bonus, a lot of places offer free shipping within the states, which means the cost of shipping from the reshipper (who of course don't base shipping cost on purchase price) to you may actually be less than getting it shipped directly from the retailer.

ETA: Just a quick afterthought... Don't even THINK of trying to circumvent US export or kiwi import laws using these companies. They don't like that and your stuff won't leave the US....

just buy it off the optic zone, who are more than happy to export what ever you want.
jon is a great guy and will get stuff not on his web site for you, you just need to send an email

Disappointing. I really hate the idea of paying our hyper inflated price for optics

With Nightforce I dont think it has much to do with ITAR resrictions more trying to protect their dealer networks.

Tracey Short threw his toys a while back about US based retailers selling NXZ's into NZ. It's not so easy to do now.

I think it more to do with protecting the local factory appointed wholesalers/retailers (simalar thing happened with MINOX and Vortex at Cameraland NY). Sure some scopes are ITAR restricted but in the case of leupold I think they have put word around their US retailers not to export their products. Brownells will no longer ship Leupold products not even bases and that is not because they don't want to deal with NZ customers (they will ship you anything as long as they are legally able to do). Their response was that they are no longer able to export leupold products due to manufacturers instructions. So I'd make the most of whoever will ship if your wanting to import.

Nah shouldn't be a worry, he told me MK4's aren't a problem, just the Nightforce out of what he sells.
