    Opinions on accuracy

    Hi All,

Just having a wee dispute with a guy I bought a rifle off. We seem to have a differing opinion on what is classed as accuracy. So im keen to hear what your guys expectations would be if a rifle was describe as a "custom build " and "very accurate"

    Cheers.

Same hole, but what calibre, what range, what method of holding the rifle, human or jig?all sorts of shit makes variation. I happily shoot my .22 at 20 metres off a bipod and touch all 5 rounds the guy next to me puts his Ruger 10/22 virtually all through the same hole! Ammo makes a shit load of difference. I do have other rifles I can out shoot. I think I know my ability and like to be able to achieve it.

Maybe its one of those "quarter moa all day long with my handloads when I do my part" rifles.

It came with reloads and dies so I foolishly assumed they were the "very accurate" loads - but turns out they weren't.

Shooting like a sack of shit and all over the show. Handloads provided at best was 3" Factory ammo that came with it also was 2.5" at best - which he said was good accurate ammo for himself.

I have this mental thing that if there isn't 6 out of 6 holes all in the 10 cent piece size target at 100 mtrs It's not accurate enough for me and I m moving on. Say what you like but if I can't hit a Blue Pheasant at 220 mtrs. I m dissapointed. Magpies at 120 with the 308 are acceptable. You do get a feel with it. It's all related to number of shots fired per year as well You know if it's accurate or not go with your gut. It's already said something eh ?

    Cheers

If you can put 6 out of 6 in a 10 cent piece at 100 you should be able to hit a blue pheasant at 600m no worries! I would also suggest you enter in some competitions cause you will probably win some stuff....
