Question Optics on single shot rifles e.g Merkel / k95

I'm just curious to know what optics you are mounting on your single shots ,primarily objective lens size and power range. Have got a k95 on order and was just wanting to keep it in line with the lightweight of these blasers and not overscope it like you see in Europe. Also interested if many of you have put suppressors on your k95/ k5 s and how you have found them on these very light rifles. I've left my barrel at 600mm and should I decide to suppress it I will have it shortened here in NZ . Mine is in .308 so it's a good calibre to suppress if I go down that route. Regarding scopes I was thinking Leopold VX 3- 10 x40 or Swarovski Z5 2.4 -12 x50 as possible options.
Any feedback appreciated from guys using these rifles.

Single shot, or not, I think it depends on the range that you intend to shoot and your personal preference. I have a Leupold VX3i 1.5-5x20 on my single shot Bergara 300BLK, but 50 metres is a long shot where I hunt.

I have a leupold VX6 2-12x42 on my K95. It is a little bit heavy. My friend has a VX3i 3-10x40 on his.

@Barnes130 - Welcome to the forum!

You other chaps know the drill - pictures always appreciated Have the K95s been out hunting recently?

    Welcome to the forum,
If I it was me and spent that much on a K95 in 308 I would probably get a swaro Z8i 1-8x24 or the lighter weight Leupold VX-6HD 1-6x24, the bonus with the Leupold is that you can dial up for longer shots.

I'll be putting a Kahles 1-5x24 on mine. It was between it and a Swaro Z6i 1-6x24 - both of which are the lightest low magnification Euro scopes on the market (sub 500 grams). The Kahles is slightly more compact and looks more traditional - which is what sealed the deal for me. Both have 95mm eye relief and a massive 42.5m FOV at 1x.

I feel that anything more than 6x is unnecessary on a 24mm scope. Image quality takes a hit and eye placement becomes more critical. I've had a few 1-8x's, and didn't see much point in cranking them past 4/5/6x.

TT on here has suppressed his K95 .308. He shortened barrel at same time. He is not on here all that often though.

@Barnes130 Considered the Blaser 1-7x 28? If you've ordered the K95 through Blaser NZ then you'll get the scope mount for free when you buy the scope. Excellent optics.

10MRT shooters do it 60 times, in two directions and at two speeds.

Haha @Phil_H - of course not! All pics and stories of your or your rifles' adventures are appreciated.

Asking for pictures of the K95s was purely to help out the OP, honest! Has absolutely nothing to do with the oohs and aaahs that some of the pictures occasionally elicit...

Swarovski Z5 2.4 -12 x50 would be a nice option, wouldn't it? Not too big, not too small, not too heavy. Disclaimer: I don't own a K95 but I did once fondle a Fanzoi Kipplauf ...

    Greetings All,
Just so you don't think Phil is the only one that has a Bergara rather than a K95 my Bergara single shot .308 has a Varix3 1.5-5 power lent by a friend. He was horrified to see the 40 year old Tasco 2.5 power I had mounted on it. Ideal for the rifle.
    Regards Grandpamac.

1 inch tubes Kahles 3-9x42. To me a heavy 30 mm tubed scope is counterintuitive to the euro single shot theme.

7x57R and used on game within 300 meters mostly.
