    Optilocks - Tikka? Sako? 75? 85? What's the difference?

    Hi all,
I bought some Sako Optilocks (or did I?), but the rear one is too big for the dovetail on my Sako 85. Are the rings for a Sako 75? or a Tikka? Are all Optilocks branded as Sako?
    TIA

The rear should have a recoil pin that engages in the slot in the dovetail and the front does not....May have Tikka ones?

    Sako rings are tapered
    Tikka rings are not
There are Tikka and Sako optilocks
Despite what the kid hunting and fishing may tell you they aren't the same.

The rear ring has the recoil pin, but is too big for my Sako's dovetail. I'll have to check, but I think the rear one is designed for a smaller dovetail than the front ring, but not as large a difference as on the Sako.

I suspect they are for a Tikka.

Sako on the left (for sale, FYI). Tikka on the right.

Yeah, thanks guys, looks like I have the Tikka version. The dovetail width on the ones I have is about 16.5mm on both (rear one seems to be tapered, front one not), while the Leupold rings I have are about 10.5mm for front and 16.5 for rear, and both tapered.

Anyone want to buy some as new Tikka Optilocks, or sell me a Tikka rifle?

If you bought them new retail then return them and get the Sako ones.

By the way, you may as well remove the rear pin on the Sako Optilocks as it is entirely superfluous because of the tapered dovetails. You can then position the rear ring where you want. The front ring generally needs to be positioned about half way on the dovetail for a secure grip. Where you position the rings will affect the windage of the scope.

I got them on Trademe, the rifle has a VX5 and 30mm Optilocks on it but I got the 25mm rings in case I decided to swap scopes around. I also got some Warne 30mm rings so the VX5 could go on the Brno's if I wanted.
I put the rings up in the buy and sell section, there's no shortage of people with Tikkas!
