Yep I have. The built in IR is pretty damn good and I don't usually bother with the external IR unless the range is getting out to past 200m to 250m then the external IR will brighten the image a bit. The external IR can also be a help on very dewy nights which tends to cut down the IR efficiency.
I also use an external 940nm IR for when the the deer are spooky so I can use either this or the built in 850nm IR.

Do you rate the pard over the c50? I love my scope it’s just the weight that kills it

The DS35 is lighter, has a fantastic built in IR plus the ballistic calculator which works very well. Not to mention the price difference. If I was just looking at these 2 options I would go for the Pard every time. The Pard does have a narrower FOV but it has never worried me. I also find in day mode the Pard has a clearer image than the Pulsar. I notice this when sighting in, it is easier to see the target and the bullet holes with the Pard.

I've used a DS35 for about 19 months now, average probably 3 nights a week over that whole time, using it out to ~350m for rabbit/hare a bunch of times, with proper positive identification using the built-in IR.
An external IR laser does enable even clearer image at long range, but I don't think many people would need it (I dont bother). If you're shooting something larger the built-in is fine for quite the distance on a clear night. You'd have no bother out to the limits of the LRF (which is like 680m for my unit at night).
My Dark Sun Engine external will enable clear images even further, but I would reccommend anyone to just use the base scope before deciding if they really need to improve its capabilities. (and before deciding if you really need to shoot 700m in the dark....)
Weather plays the biggest difference for the built in, obviously its ace on a clear night and gets worse as anything starts to drizzle down or fog up.

Funnily enough with this threads topic my DS35 IR button has stopped functioning, so I'll have to send it back for a warranty claim which will no doubt be a PITA given the recently problems friends and myself have had with the local guy.

Despite the 'horror' stories from a reasonable number of DS35 users - both online and friends who had/have units, I still love the pard kit. The tube form factor and button ergonomics are good for me.
Just recently ordered and recieved half a dozen units straight from the factory for my rifles. They were brilliant to deal with directly, and turned out cheaper.

Have you decided to purchase yet?
