    Parker Hale PH5B P14 .303

Hi all, What is the purpose of the Parker Hale PH5B? I assume it is more adjustable than the factory iron sights?

    Cheers,
    Brad

I stand to be corrected on this but I think it has a smaller hole and finer adjustments.

Have never fired the rifle I have with one :\

It's adjustable for windage as well as elevation and can be zeroed to the rifle as it has an adjustable scale. It also has different sized apertures on a rotating ring in the eyepiece. It's not service rifle compliant because it was not issued and was developed for fullbore matches. I have one on a sporterised P14 that I've been meaning to try out.

Cool thanks for that. I noticed it came with a rifle on trademe recently. Was interested to see what it was like. Might see you at the upcoming bolt action match?

For sure. Going to practice at the Swiss shoot too, will take both P14's up there but I don't have high expectations of my $150 one. I bought it for spares and chucked the PH5 on it for laughs. I'm seriously considering shooting the Service P14 at the 2015 Nats. Going old school!

Do it! More bolt guns would be cool-give Nicole some competition.

I could probably be talked into it as well

Are modded guns allowed? As an accurised no4 will outshoot a P14 at 500+yds if you have the knack in setting them up that is. If its service rifle only and "as issued" then a P14 is usually better than a no4, <2MOA v > 2MOA. The PH5C is the same as a PH5B except the B is for the no4 and the C for the p14, the PH5A is for the no1 mk3. All these are 1/2MOA clicks except for some 5Cs that are 1/4. I just got a p14 as well, (looking for a 5B sight at the moment), as the no4s are a pig to tune, I cant get my one to shoot well enough, yet.

A modded rifle would put you on open class,so you would be competing against very tricked out ar's in fancy pants calibers. It's up to you if that bothers you or not, but having seen people do it and shoot very very well and not get the kudos is not my cup if it can be avoided. If you only have the one rifle to choose from then who cares, shoot first and worry latter.
