Best hunting reticle for a first focal plane scope that I have seen is the Pecar number 16. As the power is turned up, effectively, the reticle image size changes little because the tapered cross hairs continue to taper to the central point rather than growing rather large. This reticle must be an unusual one because I have seen only one example on a 1.5 - 6 x 42.
