Thread: Permit to import a scope

After talking to NZ Customs today via phone I can confirm that it is still legal to import a scope without a permit, either in the post or in your luggage.

There was a time when a permit was required in 2019 but that was overturned shortly there after. The bloke, David, at customs was very thorough and helpful. He is the man who deals with firearm permits on a day to day basis for customs and apologies for some misleading info on the customs website that incorrectly states a scope as being a gun “part”. It just hasn’t been corrected.
