Pimp my CZ452 - where to start?

Love my CZ452 American .22LR, can't see myself ever parting with it, but a few things could be better.

1. Trigger. Pretty bad in terms of creep and heavy.

2. LOP is too short.

3. A small cheek riser would make head positioning a bit quicker and better.

4. I want the barrel cut down to 16 inches and rethreaded - any comments on this length?


Just after your thoughts. Barrel and trigger would have to be done by a gunsmith. Are there any gunsmiths left? None in Whangarei as far as I can tell. Anyone good in Auckland? With the other things, is it worth considering a new stock? Not sure this is an option. Otherwise, it's going to be a stick on cheek riser and something like a Limbsaver to extend LOP.

Get the YoDave trigger kit. Cheap, easy as to fit and transforms it.

Before you go to that expense try adjusting it first.

Last time I ordered one from ebay it was $15 NZD delivered.

If you cant get a Yodave kit then I used the Aussie Lowey kit. Worked very well and is easy to install. Got it in NZ from Bang on Target.

I have chopped mine back to 15 with a dpt can and installed a timney trigger

Its a great possum gun

16 inch barrel with suppressor is a good mix

LOP, make up a spacer or fit a recoil pad

you must have a bigger scope with high rings to need a cheek riser . . . get a smaller scope with low rings or one of those strap on jobs

CZ triggers are shite . . . adjust to light and creepy or get a YoDave or similar

or sell it and get a rifle that fits.

i had one for awhile and used plenty of others . . . what a pity CZ spends so much time to make it look great but puts fck all into function

Another vote for 16'' chop and suppressor! make a very handy wee rifle.

Definitely get a yo dave trigger kit, makes a big difference.
Mine has zero creep and a nice lightish (not too light) trigger pull.

In regards to check weld, the American stock was designed for scope use, so unless you have a huge scope a cheek rest shouldn't be needed.
Make sure you mount the scope as low as possible.

Seems like a chop and suppress is the way to go, mine was factory threaded so just stuck a DPT on it.
DPT is a good guy in Hamilton, who can chop the barrel down and fit one of his suppressors.
I don't find my rifle too long or unwieldy, I've keep my DPT with all 5 baffles too, as it was noticeably quieter even with subs than using less baffles.

Best "mod" you can do is make sure you have a nice scope on it.
You might be tempted to go cheap as it's only a 22, but a nice scope ($300 range not $1000+) will make it feel like a new gun.
I struggled for years with shitty scopes, putting a decent scope on my rim fires made the single biggest difference.

Yo Dave trigger was the one mod that closed the groupings up most noticeably for me.
I'd be interested to see how peoples accuracy changes (if at all) when the barrel gets cut down. My CZ is shooting nicely, so am hesitant to change too much.

.64 MOA 5 shot group - pretty happy with this.

I don't have a CZ So speak from experience with my old Norinco JW 15 . The very high bolt lift was notorious and even my 4x32 scope had to be Mounted way high. The main draw back of no cheek weld is parallax problems- this can be controlled if you have a Scope with parallax dial and set it carefully. The low profile American style stocks Can be used by anyone but if you putona high cheekpiece Shaped for you. people with different shaped faces won't be able to seethough your Scope. Maybe a problem may be not. If you have a cheek piecehigh enough to give good support you will have difficulty getting acleaning rod past it.

Dont be afraid to put a cheek piece on the gun yourself. with a wood stOck you cant go wrong. If you dont like it Cut it off and start again. Its your gun - own it!

Yodave trigger kit is easy to install at home and offers several different springs for different weights of trigger pull. Slug the barrel before getting it cut down.

Stock pack for the cheek piece - you can put additional foam under it to boost the height as well - bonus is, not stuffing the stock in the meantime

Sell it and get a Annie 1416 or norinco em332 both superior in every way.
