Poo seventy Bush pig build How short can I go???

Hi all So how short can I go with out starting forest fires?
What have you done how does it go?
what ammo would be best in a little gun like this (I have no experience with these little calibers)
I feel maybe the 130gr factory ammo move fast burn fast don't waste so much powder??
    What say you learned people?

Performance would have to be pretty close to a short 284 one would think.
Be fairly hard on the suppresssor if really short.

Yea am thinking that will try get suppressor with a steel baffle or muzzle break Haha.
I feel like it is going to be a lot of fun to shoot at dusk more flash than a camera.

Why not go for a short 30/30 or .308 if you plan to chop it down, are you set on .270?

A bit behind i would guess in the fact that the 284 has more effective barrel due to the shorter case, shorter fatter columns being more efficient, and off course the pitiful BCs of 270 projectiles. Still not a terrible option if your willing to accept you are probably severely limiting resale value of your 270 whereas doing the same to a 308 wouldnt likely do the same.

Don't the Duley's use a 270 as their bush gun? I'm sure I read Greg saying that when they weighed up all the calibres that the 270 was the best option. Probably counterintuitive to what we think as a bush cartridge; but he'd done the maths

He could have changed his mind and needed a new cal to market as the ultimate bush pig.

Greg has been using a bushpigged 270 for a couple of years. Last time I saw him he spoke to me about it. In a short barrel for the ranges they were using it for, with factory ammo, it outperformed both the 708 and 308. Almost went that route but stuck with the 308 as I wasn't brave enough haha

Its a .270 - has been for a while. Often referred to. I expect it is to do with being able to display Federal factory ammo on the series. Shorter barrel .270 is a good choice though.

270 or two-seventy. Why can't people just say that?
