Anyone else get powder residue build up around the muzzle when shooting with a suppressor? If so how do you get it off? I've tried cleaning pads with solvent but the best way seems to be a wire brush and worried about damaging the crown?

CLR works great.
Pretty sure its carbon, decent carbon remover will sort it, then just give it a wipe after each use and store with suppressor off
Solvent and a Scotch Brite pad should sort it. And clean it whenever you do the bore.
Put some carbon clean liquid in a small container..invert rifle and put end of barrel in liquid overnight and it will just wipe off...do not use a wire brush or any type of scouring pad...
Suppressors and to lesser extent brakes will cause high levels of carbon fouling. Any good Carbon solvent will take it off, I use Hoppes and always let it soak in (barrel & crown). But the build up shown here may take quite a few repeats and soaks to get it clean. I'd also be wary given the large build up that the bore is also not suffering. Have you run a bronze brush thru the bore ? (as well as solvent and patches)
That's only from 15 shots of load development to cause that using reloader 26 and reloader 23. Always stored with the suppressor off but every time I use the rifle I get the same build up pretty quickly.

Yip that's pretty normal I clean the carbon out of my barrel after each use and use the first patch to wipe the end of the barrel it's gone in seconds.Quote:

IE does it affect accuracy and/or performance?
2217 and 2225 give similar outcome with suppressor fitted
I don't believe it has any bearing, my 223s crown is black, every time I take the supressor off after use I wipe it with a rag over my thumb.Quote:

Yep. CLR is the ticket. Apply some with a cotton bud, and you’ll be amazed at how it bubbles then wipes straight off. Lifechanging!

I tried CLR the other day, it worked really well.
It's gonna take a while to use the whole bottle though!
Easiest trick is use a nickel antiseize on the muzzle threads and leave a thin wipe over the crown. That way the carbon just wipes off, and doesn't get into the threads between the suppressor and barrel as well.
