    Preferred optic for 17hmr

Some recommendations for a decent optic that won’t break the bank for my boys to use? Been looking at vortex cheers.

The NS mountmaster 3-9 on my .22LR sighted in very easily, with accurate clicks making the process quick and easy. However 9x zoom isn't enough to clearly see .22 target holes at 50m for target shooting, so I'd get more zoom if starting over, esp since .17 holes are even smaller!.

Identify your target beyond all doubt because you never miss (right?) and I'll be missed.

I've got a Leupold VX1 waiting to be mounted on my HMR and would definitely recommend something along those lines. HMR is super flat shooting so you don't need a fancy reticle with mildots or dialing turrets etc... good clear glass, enough zoom to see a bunny out to 200m and light weight is all you really need.

Hi, I use Nikko Stirling Diamond LR, 6-24×50 on a 17hmr and a 4-16×50 on a 22lr, definitely a very nice scope at $490, with dial up turrets, side focus and illuminated reticle with nice fine crosshairs, more than enough scope for a rimfire.

So basically for the most part if I put my 4-16 diamondback tactical from the .270 on to a 17hmr. It will be perfect haha
