As already said, on my Franchi Horizon, the front swivel stud is actually integral to the stock and recessed, the bushbuck bipod I have, has, on a couple of occasions decided to throw my gun on the ground, so far my cat like reflexes have managed to catch it, what am I doing wrong as it seems that getting the clamp and pin to engage properly is A: a pain in the arse and B: not always reliable, would appreciate you good buggers giving me some pointers :thumbsup:

I had same issues with same rifle (and bipod). The stock on mine had a hole pre-drilled to allow installation of a proper stud, which has since been done on my stock and has resolved the issue entirely. There should be a little plastic/rubber plug just behind the front sling recess that you can pull out and expose the pre-drilled hole

I'd whip a little hole into the flat d shape behind that recessed plastic thing and screw a steel stud into that. A bit of super glue in there as you wind it in and it won't shift, no more problem.
Yea thats never going to work it needs a stud that sits proud of the surface it beds against to work properly. Either mount a new stud or go for a short rail and a picatinny type bipod ie mtn gear
Whip the stock off and fit a new stud where Zedrex says he had the predrilled hole.

Measure the shank of the screw not including the flutes of the screw, and drill the nearest oversize to that that you have in your drill box. Keep it straight up and down and strap the stock down to a wooden bench or the like (off the rifle obviously so you don't tap the bottom of the barrel with the drill bit and stuff up the finish). Just whap the drill straight through, then measure the depth of the hole and make sure that the sling swivel stud's screw length is the same or slightly shorter than the hole depth. A few drops of superglue (slower cure if you can find it) and screw the stud in fairly quickly and make sure it's aligned...

Yeah looks like your one doesn’t have the pre-drilled hole- might just be the elite version ones that have it. That D is where it is normally, but I think that area is reinforced with the idea of drilling the hold in there if desired. At least now you’ve got some pretty detailed instructions from other members about doing it yourself if you so desire!
