It will come in handy if you want to use period correct tender to complete the purchase of the scope. It should be sufficient regardless of whether the seller observes period correct inflationary values, or todays collectable value of this note.
If you want it to represent a package deal someone might have bought from Tisdalls, an old Lyman 2.5x would look like you didn't deliberately do it retrospectively. But any Leupold/Weaver fixed 4x or fixed 6x would be my first cast. Authentic and should still be servicable too.
