Thread: Pulsar thermal Quantum XQ30v

Random question, using this thermal imager I have it set for 'red hot'. If I look at our cats at night...they show up red. Same for people, if I piss on the ground, I've seen hinds in the river bed at night...clearly defined as red.

Question is, parries and the odd hare show up as white - why would that be?.

No heat getting thru for red to show up.Iv put hand held on two swans earlier this year.All you could see was the rippling of water they were swimming in.Feathers keeping their body heat in.

I did wonder if the heat signature wasn't strong enough, the parries just sat there squawking at me...the hare bolted and I watched this white blob run off and then sat down and looked back at me.

Sometimes iv spotted velvet stags in medium high broom.All you see is the hot blood in their antlers and maybe their head.No heat coming thru their late winter coat.

Also make sure it is focussed properly for the distance, it can make a difference to the red visible in red hot
