Question for Blaser Owners - to flute or not?

Having disposed of some guns and with an indefinite build time I am looking at a standard barrel for my R93. Fluting is an $888 gst inc option. I love fluting, but even my love has limits.

So where have others landed on this and why?

Gunworks: PLEASE NOTE WE CANNOT FLUTE BLASER BARRELS DUE TO THE TRINITE COATING (WHICH IS AN EXTREMELY HARD COATING)... so $588 more than getting done locally.

I don't remember it being that much when the option was suggested. Was told it wasn't worth it cos it saved fuck all weight. A machinist can do it but will chew a few tooling heads and make the coating useless which is why they say do factory option.

Possibly if someone was prepared to do it and it didn't end up costing a lot.
