Question: Changing a rifle from E cat to A cat

As per the title, I'm keen to hear from anyone who has been through the process of changing an E cat firearm to A cat. I have my eye on a classic firearm that, without a big mag, doesn't have any E cat features and I'm trying to get an idea of the process and how difficult it is likely to be. Cheers

If you have your E endorsement just fill out the POL67A and get it approved.
    Easy as.

Sorry, to elaborate. I have my A. The firearm is an E cat. I am hoping to get the seller to change it to an A, so that I can buy it (and cos there is no features requiring it to be E cat)

My bad. didn't read it right.

Don't know how to do it the other way. The rifle will be registered as an E and at take a bit more paperwork and inspection.

My experience from this situation is the rifle will need to be put into A cat configuration and taken off the E cat register by the arms officer

Seller will do all the work, and being endorsed they'll prob/should know the process as the firearm in question is registered to them.

As an A cat buyer you don't have to do anything except buy an A cat firearm.

This may be one of those things that should be straight forward, but isn't always. When I recently put one of my .22's onto my E endorsement I was asked by my AO if I was really sure, as once it was done it wasn't coming off. This was despite the fact the only thing I would be doing was swapping the stock, something easily reversible.

Did it a few years ago, its probably like a lot of things going to be open to each AO's interpretation. They just got me to take photos of rifle in new configuration, all details serial numbers etc, my full details and new buyer details etc. Emailed through and they deregistered.
It would have to be the seller to put into A cat obviously, but with most rifles shouldn't be too hard and imagine they would be quite stoked rather than giving you the evil eye when you go A to E...:-)
