Quick release rings, are they worth it?

Looking at getting some quick release rings on one of my rifles, as I also enjoy using open sights and makes transportation easier.

For those of you who have them or have used them in the past, will they return to zero +/- an inch?

Both should work fine for returning to zero, I've used PRW QD rings before on an AR and they seemed solid enough.

I've run several sets of Warne QD rings. Sitting on 223 to 9.3x62 and never had any issues. Hunt around for a good price!

What kind of return to zero can one expect?

+- 1/2MOA on a decent set of rings. I've had no zero shift on non-QD rings when mounting/unmounting.

I have some leupold ones for my 10/22 takedown and have no issues. Leupold say within 1/2 inch at 100yards on their website.

I asked about this some time ago and was told that EAW q/d mounts are the best (and expensive).

I find I can take off my standard weaver rings and scope and replace them with no poi issues,one thing I do make sure of is when I fit them the first time I have one ring pushing forward on the front base and the rear ring pushing rearward on the rear base,means no forward or backward slack to alter poi when remounted .poor mans quick release system.just means you have to carry the right Allen key to remove and you need to be careful to not lose the screws.

Use Warnes on my mod 7 with opens have never target shot after taking off and on so cant tell you the shift but havnt found any issues with accuracy while hunting all good to go,dont shoot much over 200 all bush work

Warnes return to zero on my Brno 30-06.

Good quality is what you need, Warne etc, quality of rail can make a difference, have a friend who swaps between thermal and scope, which holds a good zero, he keeps his shots to a maximum of 300.

Thanks all for your input, I will buy a pair of Leupold QRW and update how they go once I've used them.

Heck thanks for the reminder, this slipped off the radar. I've found as long as the mounts and rings are good, generally it's within or right on an inch of the original zero. So for the average Joe, perfectly acceptable.

I have no issues with mine - but that is on a bedded one piece rail with rings both pushed hard forward before locking down. I would recommend that unless you are using a propriety system or expensive-quality-rated components a rail that's fully bedded (bed action to stock, and torque it down then bed rail to action) is a very good place to start.

You can buy return to zero rings, they work I use them on my work guns. I use arms rings can get rails as well. Highly recommend them have no issues with zero moving
