Good choice. Definitely the way to go.
I tried all the Leupolds outside the shop for about an hour and they just couldn't compete with the Leica's on any level at all. I also went with the 1600's and have had them ranging out to 1800-1900 feet if I can hold them steady enough.
In threads like this people will often throw out the old, "I won't shoot beyond 400-500 meters so the Leupold is fine for me." Well, I probably wouldn't either, but I like to know how far things are away rather than a blank ---. Then you know how much closer you need/want to get, rather than having to keep checking to finally get a reading. Not to mention if they can range 3 or 4x your shooting distance then they're going to work every bloody time at the distance you need them for.
